Levels - 14th April 2007 - By Jan McInnes

A really unusual set up for us for this meeting as all our racing was being run on the Saturday morning (we normally only run on a Sunday) with the three hour endurance being held in the afternoon.

Qualifying was held in conjunction with the RX7 register due to time constraints and most of them stayed out of the way of the fast moving V8's. What came as a surprise to most people was Steve Ross who arrived with the newly purchased Mustang from Barry Austin - wanting to complete the season to keep his points up.

We also welcomed Danielle Hurst  who made this meeting her first on a circuit and with the Pre65's. She entered in her Uncle Ray's old car (#12) as he had purchased Gareth Hall's #6 Anglia.

Race 1 - scratch
Qualifying saw Steve Ross on pole, followed closely by his arch-rivals Wayne Tuffley and Jason. It was Steve's first time out in the new car and proved to everyone that he still had it by taking out the win even though his times weren't as good as the other two. Excellent racing again, but had a few non starters/finishers - Tony bent another push rod, Greg had missing issues, as did Cliff (although I heard he ran out of fuel!), Slim blew a piston, Johno broke a shifter and Danielle wasn't quite ready.

Race 2 - reverse top half
Steve started back on 6 and beside him was Wayne. Jason was out with gearbox problems, but Tony was back in having unbent the pushrod. Steve won again, making easy work of getting through the small field. Wayne got the best times again getting down to 1:12.282 compared with Steve's 1:12.423.

Race 3 - handicap
Only 10 starters for this race and unfortunately Wayne couldn't come out to play due to a blown head gasket. The field turned around nicely throughout the race and was won by Roy Macdonald, followed closely by Tony Jeffs and Cliff.

Hopefully all those who had issues at this meeting will be able to get them fixed before the next round on 29th April at Teretonga
