This season is our 30th birthday!!!!

Even though only 16 managed to run, it was the impressive number of ten V8’s that turned everyone’s heads. We had the crowd and the organisers really buzzing! A few had changed the colour of their cars, others had changed cars and there were a few new/old faces returning to the scene e.g. Jim Little, Greg Lyons, Jason, Johnno (who fully intended to race, but had motor issues in practice on the Friday), Steve Ross, Slim and last, but by no means least Tony Jeffs. Also great to see was Wayne P in the ex Dave Mitchell Falcon.

Qualifying saw 15 starters due to Jim Little having worked on his car to the wee hours in the morning and missing the start. The times were very close with Tuff only just holding out Jason for pole by 0.119 seconds. The 2nd row went to Steve Ross (Scorch) and Wayne Patrick.

Race 1 - very exciting with the top four cars being so close together you could just about put a blanket over them. Winner of this race was Jason, followed very closely by Wayne Patrick then Tuff & Scorch.

Race 2 - Reverse top 50% had Manny on pole and Roy on position 2. Another very exciting race and the bigger faster cars came through with no problems at all. Winner again was Jason with Wayne P, 2nd then Scorch and Tuff. Jim blew a gearbox and Ben didn’t finish either and Craig became ill and had to stop racing.

Race 3 - with Ruapuna being such a long track, this is a handicapper’s nightmare!!! Bob loved me though as he managed to win this only just in front of Maurie. Tony stormed through for an impressive 3rd and Greg was 4th. Manny blew an engine and Wayne P had a minor fuel throttle issue.
